Mini Mail

Good Morning Everyone! I've been away from blogging for a couple days weeks because I've been so busy. Now that Thanksgiving is over, my life will slow down for about four days then it will be back to hectic city. Anyway...I got to participate in a cool event hosted by Meredith over at The Tichenor Family. She started something called Mini Mail. Your child gets connected with another child (in the same age group), and they exchange mail. Isn't that neat? My description of it doesn't really do it justice. You should read about it here.
Jordan's pen pal is Evie (pronounced like Chevy). Evie is 2 yrs old, lives in TN, and has a baby brother!

Here is what were  supposed to send (sorry I forgot to take pictures):

  • Something that Jordan is thankful for
  • a drawing of his family
  • something to read
  • something in your favorite color
  • and a quick note about what Thanksgiving is like in our family.
What we sent:
  • Is it bad that I can't remember what we sent as our thankful gift?
  • Jordan drew a picture of his family, then scribbled all over it. We sent it anyway. LOL!
  • Jordan's favorite books are books on colors. He doesn't really have a favorite color. He is an equal-opportunity  color lover.
  • Thanksgiving is a low-key  day for us. We have about 10 people over for dinner. My mom and I split the cooking duties.
What we got:
  •  Pink playdoh
  • Fruit Roll Ups
  • "There Was an Old Lady, Who Swallowed a Pie," great book, btw
  • A great picture of Evie and her family and a note about what they were up to for Thanksgiving this year.
Jordan has loved reading his book and playing with his play doh. Check out Jennifer's blog to learn more about Evie and her family!

Today I am Thankful

We give praise and thanks to You, O God, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders. Psalm 75: 1

Today I am thankful for my sweet husband. I don't know that I could thank God enough for putting him in my life. I couldn't have asked for a better husband.

Today I am Thankful-Recap

I didn't realize how busy I was until I wasn't busy anymore. Funny how that happens! So, I have been an awful blogger. I haven't kept my promise to blog everyday about something that I am thankful for. I have, however, been writing the things down! So, here is a list of the things that I have been thankful the past couple of days.

11/9-I am thankful that today (Wednesday) is my Thursday. I work M-Th so when Thursday gets here, I am always really excited (not that my job is that stressful).

11/10-I am thankful for my Small Group, again. I think I will write that every Thursday because I am really thankful for this great group of people.

11/11-I am thankful for my hairdresser. That woman can work wonders!

11/12-I am thankful for talented friends that are willing to share their talents with me, for free. My friend Kristin is a wonderful photographer. I asked her to give me, and another friend, a tutorial on my camera and when was more than willing to offer her services. I am also thankful for unexpected family time. We had dinner with my parents, my brother and SIL, and her mother. It was supposed to be just us and my parents but my brother decided to stay.

11/13-I am thankful for dreary days. Is that weird? God gives me dreary days to slow me down. I am always busy running errands, going here, going there, but when it's dreary out, I don't want to go anywhere.

So that's it, in a nutshell!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I'm LOVING...that this little guy celebrated his 3rd birthday yesterday! He had a fire truck themed birthday party complete with a tour of the fire station, face painting, and an ice cream truck!

A little game of Duck Duck Goose

Patiently waiting for his cake

I'm LOVING...this Friday is another Mom's Night Out! I love getting together with the girls for good food and good laughs.

I'm LOVING...the 25 Days of Books tradition that we will be starting with Jordan this year. He loves books. Let me rephrase that, he loves the written word, it doesn't really have to be a book. I could hand him copy of Glamour magazine and he would sit and look through it for at least 30 minutes. This year Ashish and I bought 25 books, Christmas and non Christmas related. This month we will wrap them and on December 1st we will let him pick a new book each night to unwrap and read. I can't wait to experience this with him and to have a new tradition in our family!

I'm LOVING...Pinterest. There, I said it. I'm not new to Pinterest, I've been pinning for months but I am just now at the point of admittance of addiction. It's bad, I could spend hours on Pinterest. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

As always, I'm loving these two!

Today, I'm Thankful

We give praise and thanks to You, O God, we praise and give thanks; Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near and they who invoke Your Name rehearse Your wonders. Psalm 75: 1

Good Morning Everyone! Today I am thankful for friends that are like family (sometimes even better than family). I know that if I ever called on those people there wouldn't be an hesitation to come to my side. Thank You GOD for those friends!

This Weekend I am Thankful

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His rightness and justice, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7: 17

It's Sunday already? Where do the weekends go?

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday so I am combining yesterday and today's post. Today, I am thankful for an awesome church. We have been calling 12Stone our home church for almost two years. The decision to join the church was one of the best things that we have ever done for our family!

What are you thankful for today?

Today, I am Thankful

Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 2: 7
Good Morning everyone, it's Friday! Friday at the Patel house (for Jordan and I) means no work and no school!

Today I am thankful for my small group. Ashish and I joined a couples small group through our church last Fall. We have made so many sweet friends through this small group. It's amazing how many times we have seen God work within this group. I like to call them my "Prayer Warriors" because they pray feverently for each and everyone of the members in our group. God has really blessed us with extended members of our family.

Tell me, what are you thankful for today?

Good Morning Everyone!

Today, I am thankful for my husband, Ashish. I thank God everynight for the man that he chose for me. Ashish balances me out and I don't know how I would get through life without him.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Seems like Wednesdays are rolling around faster and faster this month. I'm linking up with Jaime for another edition of...

I'm LOVING...surprise parties! Ashish's birthday was on the 12th and because we have been so busy, we hadn't had the chance to celebrate. Me, along with 20 of our friends, surprised Ashish with a birthday dinner!

I'm LOVING...this family! My best friend allowed me to photograph her beautiful family! I love them!

I'm LOVING...all of Jordan's little friends that are having there 1st birthdays within a month of each other! Happy 1st birthday to Avery, Thomas, Caleb, and Lucas!

I'm LOVING...my new scarf! Check out The Sweet Tea Diaries for her next scarf swap! I got paired up with Katy! Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the scarf that I sent her. Here is the scarf that she sent me, I LOVE it! It has the quote from my blog written on it!

As always, I'm LOVING these two!

Today I'm Thankful

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ-Ephesians 5:20

Good Morning Everyone! How was your first day of November? Here in Georgia, it was cold. The cold weather kinda snuck up on us this year and I kinda like it!

Today I am thankful for CVS. Ashish has worked for CVS for nearly 13 years. He started out as a technician, worked part-time through pharmacy school, and is now the Pharmacist in Charge at one of the pharmacies.

The unemployment rate is still so high, and there are so many families that are going without this holiday season. We are blessed that Ashish has continued to have a steady career through the recession.

Comment and tell me what you're thankful for!

Happy Halloween

We had a great Halloween; Jordan was a football player this year! I was almost positive that he would choose to be Thomas the Train but nope, he wanted to be a football player. Whatever, I am a OCD cool mom like that and let him be whatever he wanted to be.

On Thursday, he had a class Halloween Party complete with cookie decorating, singing, and tantrum bean bag throwing!

We learned our lesson last year and did not partake in too many costume wearing festivities prior to Halloween.

S/N: Last year J had a costume party at school, we took his 18 month (at 20 months) pictures in his costume, and we went to a costume party at The Melting Pot. By the time Halloween actually came, J wanted to part of his adorable costume.

Our neighborhood doesn't have any children. I'm not exaggerating, we have 1 middle school aged boy, and 2 high school aged girls. Like I said, our neighborhood doesn't have any children. It was perfect before we had kids; not too many school buses, no school fundraisers to feel obligated to participate in, perfect I tell ya. That was until we had our own child and he has no neighborhood friends. I digress. We were invited to come trick or treating in our friend Melissa's neighborhood. She has nothing but a neighborhood full of kids! Jordan got to ring several doorbells (his favorite thing), collect a lot of candy, and see one of his fav. little ladies!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween!

Thankful

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry-1 Timothy 1:12
Wow, it's November 1st, WHERE has this year gone? It really seems like we were just celebrating the Fourth of July and now we are less than 30 days away from Thanksgiving. Have I mentioned that this is my FAVORITE time of the year? I would say that I don't know why, but I do! This is the time of the year when families come together, good food is had, and memories are made. Since becoming a wife and a mother, I've strived to make our own traditions. Don't get me wrong, I love the traditions that I grew up with, but feel that when you start your own family, you have to start your own traditions, or tweak the ones that you already have. So, my new tradition, starting this year is to blog about something that I am thankful for every day until Christmas (starting November 1st). There may be duplicates, because there is nothing wrong with being thankful for the same thing more than once in a 54 day span. Agree?

So, today starts Day 1! Feel free to join me! Comment and link back to your page and I will definitely read!

Today I am thankful for my HEALTH. Ashish and I have had a lot of sickness come into our lives lately. Luckily, it hasn't been either one of us (or Jordan), but we have had loved ones battling life threatening illnesses. We lost my cousin June to cancer in November of 2010. Please say a prayer for my aunt and uncle on November 6, that is the anniversary of June's death.

My mom called me to tell me that my aunt Brenda (one of my mom's 7 sisters) was diagnosed with breast cancer. I felt that we were right back where we were last year, praying for God's healing hands. My aunt will start radiation on November 22, just 2 days after her birthday. Please pray for her too! I didn't intend for this post to be so heavy-hearted but that is what was on my heart this first day of November.

What are some of your holiday traditions? I've love to hear from you!
